🏑 Hockey — Rules of the Game

Positions, scoring, fouls, key terms and junior game durations — the same rules reference built into the Squaddie app.

Fast, skilful field sport played under FIH rules, with modified formats for junior grades.

Hockey New Zealand Hockey Australia FIH (international law book)

Based on the FIH (International Hockey Federation) Rules of Hockey, as adopted by Hockey NZ and Hockey Australia. Junior grades (Mini Sticks, Kiwi Sticks, Kwik Sticks) use smaller sides, fields, and modified rules — see your association's junior guide.

Two teams try to score by hitting, pushing or flicking the ball into the opponent's goal using the flat side of the stick only. Full-field hockey is 11-a-side; junior grades are played small-sided on modified fields.
