Why these are free
Every one of these tools solves a problem we heard from volunteer coaches before we built any of them: working out a fair rotation on a Friday night, with a squad that does not divide neatly into the number of positions, is genuinely fiddly arithmetic. It should not need software you pay for.
So these run entirely in your browser. There is no account, no sign-in wall after the result, and nothing is sent to us — which also means nothing is saved. That is the honest limit of a free tool: it solves one game.
What it cannot do is remember. Fair playing time is not really a single-game problem — it is a season problem. The player who sat out the last quarter this week is the one who should start next week, and keeping that in your head across fifteen rounds is where it falls apart. That is the part Squaddie does, and it is why we can afford to give these away.

Common questions
Are these tools really free?
Yes, and there is no account or email required. They run in your browser, so nothing is sent to us and nothing is stored. You can use them as often as you like.
Do I have to sign up to see the result?
No. The result appears in full as soon as you generate it, with the option to copy or print it. The invitation to create a Squaddie account only appears after that, and you can ignore it.
What sports are covered?
Right now there are generators for netball, football (soccer) and basketball. Squaddie itself supports netball, football, basketball, volleyball, hockey and water polo, and more tools are planned for those sports.
Will the rotation be exactly equal for every player?
Only when your squad size divides the number of on-court slots evenly. When it does not, the tools keep the gap to a single period, which is the smallest difference mathematically possible, and they show you the spread so you can see it rather than guess.
Can I use these on my phone at a game?
Yes — that is what they are built for. They work offline once the page has loaded, and the print layout is designed to be readable on a folded sheet of paper on the bench.
